FOOD INFLAMMATION (SENSITIVITY) TESTING: (F.I.T.)

KBMO Diagnostics Logo

Food driven inflammation affects more than 100 million people worldwide, and can actually be the root cause of a wide variety of chronic and acute health conditions. From autoimmune diseases to irritable bowel syndrome, food inflammation can pose detrimental impacts to your overall health. Food inflammation is different from that of food allergies and intolerances, as the inflammatory reaction caused by food can actually damage the integrity of your gut lining, leading to intestinal permeability, or Leaky Gut Syndrome. This can set you up for a myriad of chronic and debilitating conditions, many of which are incredibly difficult to diagnose and treat. The solution? Test, don’t guess!

The FIT Test is a patented, multi-pathway, delayed food inflammation test. This test utilizes technology that measures both IgG and Immune Complexes, the most common food-related pathways in the body. This is a unique test, as it measures the adaptive AND innate immune system response, which can detect the body’s inflammatory reaction to foods. At Sansone Chiropractic, we offer three different versions of the FIT Test, depending on how many foods you would like to test.

We offer the Fit 22, Fit 132, and the Fit 176. To learn more about these tests, see the video below (start at 4:10 on the video) .

what sets the fit test apart from others?

Many other food sensitivity tests are merely exposure tests, which can often render false positives. This is why many people find that their food sensitivity test results depict a list of foods that they frequently eat. The FIT Test is different; however, as it tests for the inflammatory reaction to the food. See the video above start at 9:30 on the video.

This test measures food sensitivities for up to 176 different foods and food additives, and can give you invaluable insights into your health.  What’s more, is after your FIT Test results are ready, we provide you with a meal plan to acclimate to your “safe” food list, so that you don’t feel deprived or overwhelmed by the elimination of commonly enjoyed foods.

Zonulin Test (aka Leaky Gut)
We now offer Zonulin Testing in addition to Food Sensitivity testing.

Zonulin is a protein that is synthesized in intestinal cells and liver cells. It is a key biomarker for intestinal permeability and is the only regulator of intestinal permeability that is reversible. Zonulin is one of three ways the FIT test can diagnose a leaky gut, along with finding a sensitivity to Candida and multiple Food Sensitivities. It is estimated that anywhere between 50 and 100 percent of food intolerance sufferers have increased intestinal permeability.

Increased intestinal permeability can be caused by food allergies and sensitivities, stress, infections, and low stomach acid, among other causes. Elevated levels of Zonulin are associated with Celiac Disease, Autoimmune disease, and Multiple Sclerosis, in addition to other chronic illnesses.

In a healthy gut, there are healthy cell junctions and good nutrient absorption. In a leaky gut, however, the Villi are damaged, there is poor absorption and the cell junctions are loose. This means that bacteria and unwanted items can pass through the gut, as seen in the picture above.

Zonulin Testing is best performed with your first FIT Test to provide a baseline for the Zonulin levels. This gives you the opportunity to track your progress after implementing an elimination diet based on the FIT Test results. We recommend retesting when you retest your FIT.

IF YOU HAVE A LEAKY GUT— then your body is not really processing all the healthy things you are trying to do! We need to stop and heal your gut first then move to other items such as detoxing or healthy building.
